Benjamin Percy presents The Dead Lands
In conversation with Kelly Link
Benjamin Percy is the author of the novels Red Moon and The Wilding and the story collections, Refresh, Refresh and The Language of Elk, and has been acclaimed by fellow writers including Peter Straub, Edan Lepucki, Stephen King, and James Lee Burke, who writes “His prose has the masculine power of Ernest Hemingway’s, but also the sensibilities and compassion of Eudora Welty. His writing is like a meeting of Shakespeare and rock ‘n’ roll.” Percy’s new novel The Dead Lands is a darkly reimagined Lewis and Clark saga set in a future where a super flu and nuclear fallout have made a husk of the world we know. Percy discusses his work and “literary genre fiction” with Kelly Link, publisher of Small Beer Press and author mostly recently of the story collection Get In Trouble, which launched at Greenlight in February.
